Ahmedabad plane crash live updates A day after the deadly plane crash in Ahmedabad, the black box of the Air India aircraft was installed on the rooftop of the medical hotel where the plane crashed. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has begun a full-fledged investigation into the accident, with over 40 Gujarat state government officials joining the field to support the Civil Aviation Ministry’s brigade.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ahmedabad on Friday and took stock of the situation at the crash site. He also met those injured in the incident at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
PM Modi also held a review meeting with top officials as India began a formal investigation into Thursday’s plane crash, one of the worst air tragedies in recent times.

Both US and British investigation brigades were deployed to support the India-led probe. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), on the other hand, has scaled up its emergency response, taking the number of brigades deployed at the crash site to seven. NDRF Inspector Vinay Kumar said 81 bodies had been recovered from the debris by Friday morning.
Although the government has not yet released the accepted number of casualties, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has confirmed that only one of the 242 people on board the plane – 230 passengers and 12 crew members – survived; Ahmedabad IG Vidhy Chaudhary said 260 people are at risk of surviving, suggesting that more people were killed when the flames engulfed the medical staff hotel. At least 50 others were injured in the hotel, officials said.
Observers saw a huge dynamo and a black cloud rising into the sky moments after the plane went down.
