An official of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was allegedly attacked during the investigation of a cyber fraud case in Delhi’s Bijwasan area on Thursday. The ED official suffered minor injuries during the attack and his condition remained stable after he was given first aid, officials said. The official injured in the attack has been identified as an additional executive of the ED, officials reported. The ED team had gone to a farmhouse in Bijwasan, Delhi to meet a chartered accountant (CA) in connection with the investigation of an alleged cyber app fraud case. On reaching there, the ED team was allegedly attacked by a suspect named Ashok Sharma and his family. “There were five people there and one of them fled. The premises have been secured and an FIR is being registered. An additional ED executive has been injured in the incident,” the investigating agency said. The ED said the strikes, conducted by its high-intensity unit (HIU), were carried out following an investigation that revealed the cleanup of illicit funds built from thousands of cyber crimes, including phishing tricks, QR code extortion and part-time job scams. “The high-intensity unit (HIU) of the Directorate of Enforcement today conducted a wide-ranging investigation focusing on top chartered bookkeepers allegedly linked to a major cyber crime organisation operating in India. The strikes, conducted following an investigation, revealed the cleanup of illicit funds built from thousands of cyber crimes, including phishing tricks, QR code extortion and part-time job scams,” the ED said. Visuals from the scene showed a broken piece of furniture in what looked like the living room of a house. The ED team went to the local police station over the matter, following which the police have launched a search for the accused.
Details of the case
According to information received by Hindustan Times, the ED conducted raids on some chartered accountants.
With the help of I4C and FIU-IND, thousands of detailed crime incidents were analysed holistically, the ED said, wherein it was found that crime money was being deposited in 15000 donkey accounts.
“Then debit/credit cards were obtained. Using these cards, money was sent to hacked virtual accounts on UAE-based Pyypl installment aggregator. Then the stores from Pyypl were used to buy crypto-currency,” the ED said.
It said the entire organization was being run by suspicious chartered accountants.

The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) is an activity of the domestic service to combat cybercrime in the country.
