Stampede in Tirupati, many devotees died, President Murmu, PM Modi expressed condolences

President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday (January 9, 2025) said she was saddened by the loss of lives of fans due to the attack in Tirupati and expressed her deepest condolences to the families who were rendered homeless. She also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. “Saddened to know that many fans have lost their lives in the attack in Tirupati. I express my deepest condolences to the families who were rendered homeless and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” President Murmu said in a post on X. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the loss of lives in the incident. In a post on X, the Prime Minister’s Office said, “Saddened by the attack in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. My condolences are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover as soon as possible. The Andhra Pradesh government is providing all possible help to the affected people.” At least six devotees were killed and several injured in a rush to get tickets for Vaikuntha Dwara Darshanam at the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple on Tirumala Hills on Wednesday night.
