40 schools in Delhi received bomb threat via email, no suspicious object found yet

According to the Indian Express, at least 40 schools in Delhi received bomb threats via email on Monday morning. These schools include DPS RK Puram, GD Goenka Paschim Vihar, Mother Mary’s Mayur Vihar, The British School Chanakyapuri, Salwan Open School Mayur Vihar, High School Mandi House, Cambridge School, DPS Vasant Kunj and some DAV. Delhi Police, bomb squad and fire brigade officials responded immediately to reports of bomb blasts at DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka Paschim Vihar. The first alarm for GD Goenka came at 6.15 am, followed by a second alarm for DPS at 7 am. So far no suspicious object has been found on the school premises. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi expressed her concerns about the law and order situation in the capital on Twitter (earlier on Twitter), mentioning recent bomb threats targeting schools. He wrote: “After the daily incidents of murder, loot, killings in Delhi, now there are threats of bombing of schools. The law and order situation in Delhi has never been so bad before. The BJP-ruled central government has failed in its duty to provide security to the people of Delhi…”

Officials said no suspicious object has been found in any area so far, but the threatening email has caused a lot of commotion. As a security measure, students and staff were evacuated and schools were temporarily closed while examinations were on. Cyber ​​crime teams are trying to trace the sender of the email.

According to sources, the email was sent to the official IDs of the schools at 11:38 pm on Sunday, when the schools were closed. The sender, using a mail address named scottielanza@gmail.com, wrote:

“I have planted several bombs inside the building. The bombs are small and are very well covered. It will not cause much damage to the building, but when the bombs explode, many people will be injured.”

The email read: “You all will have to suffer and lose limbs. If I don’t get $30,000, the ‘KNR’ gang is behind this attack.”
