Xiaomi launches the most popular new phones 15 and 15 Pro

Xiaomi launched the 15 and 15 Master in China in October, and many other Chinese smartphone makers also launch their latest and most recent flagship devices in October or November. Now that all of these have been on display there for a few weeks, an unofficial report claims that Xiaomi has gained the most popularity among buyers.

According to the activations data (we assume this means carrier activations), the Xiaomi 15 series leads the pack with 1.3 million as of week 47 (which began on November 18 and ended on November 24). The unnamed second is far behind at 600,000-700,000, while the third manufacturer has seen around 250,000 activations so far.

Keep in mind that these are activations we’re talking about here, not shipments or deals. If you bought a phone and it’s still in the box, that’s not true – despite the fact that we imagine there aren’t millions of phones in Chinese households right now that would affect the numbers.

While the source of this data didn’t name the runners-up, Oppo and Vivo are rumored to be tied for the title (Chinese netizens always refer to them together as “OV”, and since both companies are owned by BBK Gadgets, you can see how that makes sense), while Honor is in third place.

Interestingly, the vanilla Oppo Discover X8 is said to be outselling the Discover X8 Master 5:1. Well, those are Oppo’s contestants in this segment, while Vivo brought three phones: the X200, X200 Master and X200 Professional which are smaller than expected. Honor, on the other hand, sent the Magic7 and Magic7 Pro.
