Firing between MLA and ex-MLA happened in front of camera in Uttarakhand, both arrested after firing

The feud between former BJP MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Winner and autonomous MLA Umesh Kumar took a violent turn on Sunday in Roorkee, Uttarakhand. The two MLAs have been competing against each other for a long time and they often challenge each other on social media platforms.

A video of the incident has surfaced, in which Winner is seen firing at Kumar’s office along with his supporters. They are seen brandishing guns, throwing stones and scuffling. After this, without any delay, Kumar along with his supporters opened fire at Champion’s office.

Both the MLAs were taken into custody after they filed complaints against each other. Winner was taken to Ranipur police station, while Kumar is at Roorkee police station.

According to Winner, the Khanpur MLA attacked his house in Landhaura on Saturday night and assaulted him.

He told the media from inside the police van, “When I responded, I was picked up. This is betrayal. I will fight against this.” Champion’s wife also claimed that they had lodged a complaint against Kumar over the incident. But when no action was taken, they attacked his office to “save our honour”. On the other hand, Kumar alleged that Vijeta had abused him and his parents on social media two days ago. Due to this, he went to the former Laksar MLA’s house and misbehaved with him. Haridwar SSP Pramod Singh Doval said that the police have suggested the local officer to cancel his authorized guns and reconsider the security given to him. He said, “No one can be allowed to take the law into their own hands.”
